Vallee Blanche

The Vallée Blanche, the literal translation is 'The White Valley'. The name sounds like something out of a C.S Lewis novel. And it lives up to that expectation once you have made it down an exposed ridge of ice in your ski boots whilst an impatient Frenchman yells expletives for you to hurry. Seriously though, it's not as bad as it sounds and thousands of lucky visitors to Chamonix experience it every year.

Starting from the Aiguille du Midi at 3842m, and in good conditions, ending Chamonix at 1100m, the Vallée Blanche is one of the most famous ski runs in the world. 2742 vertical decent metres and at 22km (13.7 miles) the Vallée Blanche is the longest ski run in Europe. On a good day the whole thing takes close to 4 hours, which is plenty of time to admire the spectacular mountain scenery.

The Vallée itself, whilst truly spectacular, is not without its dangers and no one should attempt it by themselves. Don’t be fooled, this run is a high mountain activity and should be treated with respect. Massive crevasses and ice falls, not to mention the sheer scale of the mountains in this area add to the dangers. Having said that, under the expert guidance of one of our guides, you will enjoy a day away from the crowds and queues, skiing (or boarding) down the centre of one of Europe’s last great wildernesses.

The cost for a guide for the Vallee Blanche is 330€ for 1-4 pepople, 15€ pp for each additional person to join the group, max 6 people to each guide.  To book a guide for the Vallee Blanche or for more OFF PISTE adventures please see our guide page, or contact us directly.

MOONLIT VALLEE BLANCHE
One of the most amazing experiences you’ll have in your life! Catch the last cable car of the day to watch the sun set from the Aiguille du Midi. Cross the arête to the Refuge des Cosmiques for dinner before skiing down the Vallée Blanche. It’s hard to describe the splendor of the snow and glaciers beneath the light of the moon - extraordinary. If you happen to be in Chamonix round a full moon, you should definitely do this!
Groups from 4-6 people: 155€ pp
