Yoga Classes

Restorative, energising, relaxing... give your body the love it deserves with group or private yoga classes in Chamonix.

Yoga Classes

Relax, strengthen and unite your body and mind with a restorative yoga class at the foot of Mont Blanc.

Yoga is great not just for flexibility but also for protecting your body against injury and in aiding recovery from strenuous exercise. Hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding… all of these outdoor activities that we love can take quite a toll on your body.

Yoga classes take place at a number of locations within the Chamonix valley; either in a beautiful Alpine chalet, or beside the swimming pool of a luxurious hotel in the centre of Chamonix, or in the garden of a pretty little hotel on the edge of a forest. All venues are flexible, so classes can be held indoors or outdoors depending on the weather.

Classes are based on Hatha, Pranayama and Restorative yoga techniques, with a strong focus on energy flow, breathing capacity and de-stressing. Pre and post ski yoga sessions will stretch out tight muscles and are excellent for injury prevention and improved athletic performance.

There is a specific pre-natal yoga class every Friday morning, which is obviously aimed at pregnant women but everyone is very welcome to join in.

Handy Hints from Mountain Base:
  • Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move and stretch freely.
  • Bring a bottle of water; the high altitude of Chamonix means that the air may be drier than you are used to.
  • If you have any medical conditions or health issues please inform us at time of booking so that we can advise your yoga instructor in advance.

Private Yoga

Indulge in a one-on-one personalised yoga session, in the privacy of your own chalet or in a venue of your choice.

Your bespoke yoga class will focus on whatever you feel that you would like help with; be it strengthening exercises to enhance your athletic performance, stretching to improve your flexibility, realignment to relieve aches and pains, or de-stressing techniques to aid your energy flow and restore balance to your life.

Mothers-to-be can benefit from specific pre-natal yoga classes that will strengthen and balance your body as it goes through the biggest change of them all; relieving some of the many strains and tensions that develop as your baby grows.

Whether you wish to book a personal yoga session for yourself or a shared class with a group of friends, please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Escape into the mountains for a full day of hiking, yoga and meditation under the peaceful gaze of Mont Blanc.

Your day will start bright and early between 8am and 9am when you will be driven to the start of the hike by Natasha and Nigel. Natasha is an experienced yoga teacher with many years of practise and Nigel is a qualified IML (International Mountain Leader) who knows the Chamonix mountains inside out.

Your hike will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and will be off the beaten track, following lesser known trails to remote and mind-blowingly beautiful scenic locations. Once you’ve arrived at your destination it’s time to lay out the yoga mats in front of the magnificent backdrop of the French Alps and give yourself over to an hour of restorative Hatha yoga.

After your yoga session you’ll be ready to relax and tuck into a delicious organic lunch, freshly prepared that morning by our favourite epicerie in Chamonix. Your leisurely lunch will give you time to unwind and get to know the other people in your group, whilst soaking up the wonderful views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains.

After lunch you will continue your hike, aiming to be back at the start point for collection by minibus at approximately 4:30pm. You will return feeling relaxed, refreshed and energised by your mountain yoga experience!

Handy Hints from Mountain Base:
  • Although lunch is included you will need to bring along water, sun cream and anything else that you might need to spend all day in the mountains.
  • Wear clothes that will be comfortable for both activities; sturdy boots or shoes for hiking, loose or stretchy clothes for yoga and maybe an extra layer as the temperature in the mountains can be a bit cooler than down in the valley.
  • You don’t need to have done yoga before – just bring along your smile, energy and a love of the outdoors!
