Relax, strengthen and unite your body and mind with a restorative yoga class at the foot of Mont Blanc.
Yoga is great not just for flexibility but also for protecting your body against injury and in aiding recovery from strenuous exercise. Hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing and snowboarding… all of these outdoor activities that we love can take quite a toll on your body.
Yoga classes take place at a number of locations within the Chamonix valley; either in a beautiful Alpine chalet, or beside the swimming pool of a luxurious hotel in the centre of Chamonix, or in the garden of a pretty little hotel on the edge of a forest. All venues are flexible, so classes can be held indoors or outdoors depending on the weather.
Classes are based on Hatha, Pranayama and Restorative yoga techniques, with a strong focus on energy flow, breathing capacity and de-stressing. Pre and post ski yoga sessions will stretch out tight muscles and are excellent for injury prevention and improved athletic performance.
There is a specific pre-natal yoga class every Friday morning, which is obviously aimed at pregnant women but everyone is very welcome to join in.
Handy Hints from Mountain Base:
- Wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move and stretch freely.
- Bring a bottle of water; the high altitude of Chamonix means that the air may be drier than you are used to.
