Hiking up to a mountain restaurant at twilight, sharing a hearty meal with friends, then skiing or sledging down under the stars - what could be more a more special way to spend an evening in the Alps?
We pick you up from your accommodation in Chamonix at around 5:30pm, giving you time to ski all day if you wish, then drive to the nearby ski resort of Combloux, near Megeve, which takes about 30 minutes.
After a short ski or a hike you'll come to a wonderfully atmospheric mountain restaurant, situated at the top of the slopes and overlooking some of the most beautiful views of Mont-Blanc and the Aravis massif.
We hope you've brought your appetite with you to fully appreciate a delicious “tartiflette" or one of the chef's special dishes, followed by a home made dessert.
After dinner, it's back down the slopes for a magical descent by torch-light, either on skis or sledge. The descent is guided and the route will be shown to you, so there's no chance of getting lost in the dark!
Handy Hints from Mountain Base:
- Take a camera or video camera - you'll want to remember the sight of all those torches weaving their way down the mountain in the dark!
- Layer your clothing so that you are nice and warm on the descent but not too hot inside the restaurant, hats and gloves are a must.
- This is an excellent way to celebrate a special occasion - get in touch with us beforehand if you want to add on champagne or a birthday cake. We guarantee we can keep a secret!
