Experience an unforgettable Alpine adventure...

Have a toboggan race down the mountain after dark...

Dine in a traditional mountain refuge, accessed by skidoo...

We call these special for good reason!

Paret Sledging

Here’s something that will have you in hysterics for your entire holiday. Take a "paret" – a traditional wooden sled – and head down the Grands Montets home run!

This is great fun for adults and teenagers but not suitable for children under 12. Use your lift pass to go up and then slide down with the rest of the group.

Every Wednesday, meet approximately 16h15 at bottom of Grands Montets to collect Paret and take last lift up.

Handy hints from Mountain Base
  • Don’t worry about avoiding skiers – it’s at the end of the day so it’s just your fellow paret pilots you’ve got to worry about!
  • And you’ll get hi-visibility jackets too, so you should be able to spot them.
  • Must wear ski clothing (no ski boots) and bring your goggles!!

The Italian Job

Even we get jealous when we book people on this adventure. There are no Minis in this Italian Job, just high-speed skidoos and mouth-watering Italian food and wine.

You leave Chamonix at around 5pm and head through the Mont Blanc tunnel into Courmayeur. Put your head torch on and jump on the back of a skidoo, ready to race up the mountain to 2000 metres where a cosy restaurant and sparkling champagne awaits.

Salads, roasted vegetables, crispbreads, amazing pasta, grilled meats: the food is, as you would imagine, as special as the journey!

Much later, after endless wine and a boogie (to some classic 80s tunes), it’s time to head down. Did we mention that you’d be doing this on your skis, via the stars and your head torch?

If there is ever an adventure not to be missed, this is it.

Handy hints from Mountain Base
  • Don’t worry non-skiers can use the skidoos to get back down
  • Leaves Chamonix at 17:00, return approx 23:30
  • Minimum group sizes apply - please check first

Wilderness Soirée

A magical adventure in the snowy mountains, enjoy a traditional Savoyard meal in a Mongolian Yourt.

Venture up into the mountains at night and take a ride on a traditional wooden "paret" sledge to discover the Mongolian yourt, hidden away in the forest.

Camp fires and warm soup greet us on arrival and then a traditional meal of salad, tartiflette and a dessert is served, before you're whisked back to Chamonix.

A unique alpine experience that you definitely can't do at home!

Handy Hints from Mountain Base
  • This is a fantastic way to celebrate a special occasion - keep them guessing by not revealing the secret location until you arrive at the yourt!
  • Bring a camera along, the paret ride is hilarious and you'll want to film the action as you skid and slide across the snow.
  • This evening usually runs on Wednesdays but bigger groups can book it privately on other nights of the week, just contact us with your requirements and we'll see what we can do.

Wine Tasting

One of the joys of visiting France is enjoying the delicious food and wine!

Once you've munched on croissants for breakfast, nibbled on cheese and saucisson for lunch and devoured a fondue for dinner, you'll be ready to sample some of the finest wines of the region.

Our partners at ChaChaCha welcome you to a wine tasting for a special price of just 12€ per person (public price 15€). You will be guided through 6 wines (3 reds, 2 whites, 1 rosé) while the sommelier explains the different flavours and methods of production.

It is a very friendly and informal evening, you are welcome to remain at the bar afterwards where you can carry on enjoying your favourite tipple, or you can buy a bottle to take home.

If you want to try something in particular then ChaChaCha are happy to organise a tasting specially for you - perhaps champagne or whisky tasting? Prices may vary according to what you would like.

Handy Hints from Mountain Base
  • Wine tastings are normally held at 7pm and take about an hour, so opt for a slightly later table reservation if you're going out for dinner afterwards.
  • If you're dining in then take advantage of having a wine expert at your disposal! They'll be happy to recommend a couple of bottles to accompany whatever you'll be eating later.
  • ChaChaCha is open as a shop and wine bar from 4pm to 9pm every evening, please feel free to call in without reservation to browse their fine collection of wines, beers and spirits.
