Handy hints from Mountain Base

  • Every Thursday there are day trips running to Courmayeur for 30€ per person return. Every Wednesday there are day trips to St Gervais and Megeve for just 30€ per person return please contact us for more information.
  • Take a trip up the Aiguille Du Midi and visit Europe’s tallest attraction - “Step into the Void” - an enclosed glass viewing platform suspended 1000's of metres above the valley floor. Not for the faint hearted!

Chamonix Le Pass

Don’t waste time queuing for a lift pass when we can sort it all in advance for you and have it waiting in your accommodation on arrival.

There are two main types of ski pass in Chamonix - the Mont Blanc Unlimited (MBU) and Chamonix Le Pass. If you are relatively new to skiing or prefer to stay local, then you will find a wide variety of green, blue, red and black runs covered on the Chamonix Le Pass. This lift ticket is valid for the 4 main Chamonix ski areas as well as the various nursery slopes situated on the valley floor, so there is plenty of different terrain to keep you busy for at least a week.

Bare in mind that this lift pass does not allow you to use the lifts in Les Houches or take the Aiguille du Midi cable car or the Montenvers train (therefore ruling out the Vallée Blanche). However, it can be upgraded at any point during your stay to the Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass on payment of the appropriate supplement

Chamonix Le Pass - skiing in all of Chamonix's main ski areas (up to 2,765 m) including:
  • Brevent
  • Flegere
  • Les Grands Montets (excluding top cable car to summit)
  • Le Tour & Vallorcine (also known as Domaine de Balme)
  • Valley floor / beginner areas: La Vormaine, Les Chosalets, Le Savoy & Les Planards
Book your lift passes now or contact us for more information

Handy hints from Mountain Base
  • Chamonix Le Pass is the best value option if you prefer to stay on groomed runs, or need to stay local perhaps because you have children in ski school.
  • If you want to visit Italy or the ski areas nearby you still can, there is plenty to do even if you don't go up the mountain! Day trips to Courmayeur run every Thursday for 30€ per person return and every Wednesday you can go to St. Gervais / Megeve for just 30€ per person return. Please contact us for more information.
  • If your winter holiday falls in between Saturday 7th April and Tuesday 1st May 2018, you can take advantage of the special "Spring Skiing" rates - click here for prices

Family Ski Pass

Skiing "en famille" is made easier with a family pass that offers great discounts for families with two or more children.

Valid for two adults and two children, the added bonus of the family lift pass is that the 3rd, 4th and even 5th child in the same family can then ski for free!

There are two options - Chamonix Le Pass and Mont Blanc Unlimited - if you want to truly explore Chamonix and take advantage of everything that the resort has to offer then we recommend opting for Mont Blanc Unlimited as it includes lots of add-ons that are great family activities.
  • Montenvers Train & Mer de Glace
  • Tramway Mont Blanc
  • Aiguille du Midi
  • Les Houches (family friendly ski area in the Chamonix valley, not included in Le Pass)
  • Free daily ride on the Alpine Coaster *
  • Free entry to the sports centre & swimming pool *
  • Free entry to the ice rink *
  • Discounted cinema tickets - all the latest films shown in English *
*only included with a lift pass of 3 days or more

Mont Blanc Unlimited also includes free access to Courmayeur in Italy, a lovely ski area and a great option for a day trip. Courmayeur is just a short drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel, but if you do not have a car then there are regular bus trips run by our partners at Haute Transfer.

Mont Blanc Unlimited offers you a 50% discount on a Verbier 4 Valleys day lift pass and our partners at Haute Transfer run weekly day trips to Switzerland in a comfortable minibus that will collect you from your accommodation.

Also included in Mont Blanc Unlimited is the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area of Megeve and Saint-Gervais, again our partners at Haute Transfer run weekly day trips to explore this wonderful resort that lies just a short drive from Chamonix.

We hope nothing stops you having a great time on the slopes. But if something unexpected does happen, it’s reassuring to know you’re covered.

That’s why we recommend taking Insurance E-Gloo at just 3€ a day.

What’s covered?
  • Rescue and evacuation (incl. helicopter if required)
  • Ski pass reimbursement (and ski lessons if unused)
Handy hints from Mountain Base
  • If bad weather means you can’t ski, you can get some reimbursement if you take out the insurance - it’s less than a price of a coffee; it’s got to be worth it!
  • In case of an accident, call rescue services on +33(0)4 50 54 04 73
Make sure you ask for insurance when you book your lift ski passes

Ski Areas & Piste Maps

Having trouble making sense of all the different areas? Not sure which ones are included in each pass?

Have a look at the descriptions below and download the maps to the right - you'll know the valley like the back of your hand in no time!

Chamonix Le Pass
  • Brevent: The closest ski area to Chamonix town with the lift station just a few minutes walk from the tourist office. South facing slopes and unbeatable views of the valley. Good range of blue and red pistes, as well as a big air bag for perfecting your Japan Air.
  • Flegere: Linked to Brevent via a cable car, making a total of 56km of pisted runs. Same sunny south facing exposition, good family area with large nursery slope. Also popular with ski tourers for its great backcountry access.
  • Les Grands Montets: The big one! The highest pisted area in the valley with runs at 3300m (top ticket not included with Le Pass). Long steep desents and a snow park make this popular with thrill seekers.
  • Le Tour / Vallorcine: Also known as "Domaine de Balme", this is one of our favourite areas for cruising the pistes and stopping for a leisurely lunch. Lots of wide gentle runs with easily accessible off-piste in between. A couple of great restaurants, both small but popular so booking is highly recommended!
  • Nursery slopes: there are a number of beginner pistes dotted around the valley; Les Planards, La Vormaine, Le Savoy and Les Chosalets. Accessed by slow-moving button and/or chairlifts and on a gentle gradient, they allow you to master the basics and build up your confidence before you hit the bigger slopes.
Mont Blanc Unlimited - all of the above, plus:
  • Les Houches: 55km of slopes, mostly wide and undulating, many tree-lined. Les Houches is your best option on a bad weather day, as the visibility is better and it is more sheltered. A family-friendly ski area with charming old restaurants, a snow park, cross-country tracks, snow shoe trails and the friendliest lifties in the valley!
  • Les Grands Montets "top bin": up amongst the peaks, looking down into the deep blue crevasses of the Argentiere glacier, worth it for the view alone. Great access to backcountry ski touring routes, but be sure to book a mountain guide as you will be venturing over glaciers and avalanche-prone areas.
  • Aiguille du Midi: the highest point in the valley other than the summit of Mont Blanc! Take the dramatic cable car up to 3842m and step out into another world. Surrounded by mountains as far as the eye can see, looking out over France, Italy and Switzerland. This is the starting point for the world famous Vallée Blanche, as well as many alpine expeditions. Again, this is a potentially risky area and we highly recommend booking a mountain guide.
  • Courmayeur: La Bella Italia! Great ski area, fabulous restaurants, excellent wine and a charming town - what's not to like? Nothing, that's what. We love it.
  • Megeve part of the 235 runs Evasion Mont Blanc skiing area, the glamorous town will captivate your mind.
  • St. Gervais at the foot of Mont Blanc, St. Gervais offers several well-preserved tree runs.
  • Verbier: Oh so chic but also a wonderful ski area with long runs, snow parks, accessible off-piste and sunny slopes. If that sounds too energetic you can settle on one of the wonderful terraces and enjoy the view with a warming glass of mulled wine.
