Insurance

We hope nothing stops you having a great time on the slopes. But if something unexpected does happen, it’s reassuring to know you’re covered.

That’s why we recommend taking Insurance E-Gloo at just 3€ a day.

What’s covered?
  • Rescue and evacuation (incl. helicopter if required)
  • Ski pass reimbursement (and ski lessons if unused)
Handy hints from Mountain Base
  • If bad weather means you can’t ski, you can get some reimbursement if you take out the insurance - it’s less than a price of a coffee; it’s got to be worth it!
  • In case of an accident, call rescue services on +33(0)4 50 54 04 73
Make sure you ask for insurance when you book your lift ski passes

Ski Areas & Piste Maps

Having trouble making sense of all the different areas? Not sure which ones are included in each pass?

Have a look at the descriptions below and download the maps to the right - you'll know the valley like the back of your hand in no time!

Chamonix Le Pass
  • Brevent: The closest ski area to Chamonix town with the lift station just a few minutes walk from the tourist office. South facing slopes and unbeatable views of the valley. Good range of blue and red pistes, as well as a big air bag for perfecting your Japan Air.
  • Flegere: Linked to Brevent via a cable car, making a total of 56km of pisted runs. Same sunny south facing exposition, good family area with large nursery slope. Also popular with ski tourers for its great backcountry access.
  • Les Grands Montets: The big one! The highest pisted area in the valley with runs at 3300m (top ticket not included with Le Pass). Long steep desents and a snow park make this popular with thrill seekers.
  • Le Tour / Vallorcine: Also known as "Domaine de Balme", this is one of our favourite areas for cruising the pistes and stopping for a leisurely lunch. Lots of wide gentle runs with easily accessible off-piste in between. A couple of great restaurants, both small but popular so booking is highly recommended!
  • Nursery slopes: there are a number of beginner pistes dotted around the valley; Les Planards, La Vormaine, Le Savoy and Les Chosalets. Accessed by slow-moving button and/or chairlifts and on a gentle gradient, they allow you to master the basics and build up your confidence before you hit the bigger slopes.
Mont Blanc Unlimited - all of the above, plus:
  • Les Houches: 55km of slopes, mostly wide and undulating, many tree-lined. Les Houches is your best option on a bad weather day, as the visibility is better and it is more sheltered. A family-friendly ski area with charming old restaurants, a snow park, cross-country tracks, snow shoe trails and the friendliest lifties in the valley!
  • Les Grands Montets "top bin": up amongst the peaks, looking down into the deep blue crevasses of the Argentiere glacier, worth it for the view alone. Great access to backcountry ski touring routes, but be sure to book a mountain guide as you will be venturing over glaciers and avalanche-prone areas.
  • Aiguille du Midi: the highest point in the valley other than the summit of Mont Blanc! Take the dramatic cable car up to 3842m and step out into another world. Surrounded by mountains as far as the eye can see, looking out over France, Italy and Switzerland. This is the starting point for the world famous Vallée Blanche, as well as many alpine expeditions. Again, this is a potentially risky area and we highly recommend booking a mountain guide.
  • Courmayeur: La Bella Italia! Great ski area, fabulous restaurants, excellent wine and a charming town - what's not to like? Nothing, that's what. We love it.
  • Megeve part of the 235 runs Evasion Mont Blanc skiing area, the glamorous town will captivate your mind.
  • St. Gervais at the foot of Mont Blanc, St. Gervais offers several well-preserved tree runs.
  • Verbier: Oh so chic but also a wonderful ski area with long runs, snow parks, accessible off-piste and sunny slopes. If that sounds too energetic you can settle on one of the wonderful terraces and enjoy the view with a warming glass of mulled wine.
